Vehicle Divisions:

*These Vehicle divisions are coming from the Micro Crawler Club (MCC). Since we are in the same area I figured it would be good to try the same rules instead of making it confusing between the competitions. Trying it out for the next competition and see how it goes

In this section we will outline the different divisions of competition vehicles. Our divisions are inspired by life-sized vehicles and what would separate them from others in a competition setting. Some considerations have been made to better reflect a fair and balanced competition for micro RC rock crawlers.

STREET - D1 (Class 1):

Street vehicles are intended to resemble a vehicle that could be street legal if it were life-sized, without visibly extreme modifications for rock crawling aside from tires.

  • Electronics (motor, ESC, RX/TX): No exclusions.
  • Max length:
    • 8” axle nut to axle nut
  • Frame rails:
    • Stock rails or equivalent only. Equivalent rails must have the same stock shock mounting positions and a zero degree skid.
  • Body:
    • Body must cover chassis rails. No half cabs.
    • Body must cover approximately 25% or more of all tires.
    • Body can be trimmed to fit the tire.
  • Axles:
    • Must fit to the center of the body’s wheel well/fender (can trim to fit tire).
  • Wheels: 1.0”
  • Tires: 58mm Max diameter.
  • Battery: 2s or 3s.
  • Exclusions:
    • No four wheel steer (4WS)**
    • No unlockable rear transmission (DIG)**
    • No battery on axle (BOA).
    • No motor on axle (MOA).

** allowed on vehicles, but can not be used. If activated during a scored run an automatic DNF will be applied.

WEEKEND WARRIOR - D2 (Class 2):

Weekend Warrior vehicles are intended to resemble a vehicle that could possibly be street legal if it were life-sized, with noticeably visible modifications for rock crawling.

  • Electronics (motor, ESC, RX/TX): No exclusions.

  • Max length:

    • 8” axle nut to axle nut

  • Frame Rails:

    • Stock, stock replacement, or LCG chassis

  • Body:

    • Complete body (no half cabs)

    • Body must cover chassis

  • Axles:

    • Must fit to the center of the wheel well/fender (can trim to fit tire).

  • Wheels: 1.0”-1.3”

  • Tires: 64mm max diameter

  • Battery: 2s or 3s.

  • Exclusions:

    • No four wheel steer (4WS)**

    • No unlockable rear transmission (DIG)**

    • No battery on axle (BOA).

    • No motor on axle (MOA).

** allowed on vehicles, but can not be used. If activated during a scored run an automatic DNF will be applied.

OUTLAW - D3 (Class 3):

Outlaw vehicles are not intended to resemble a street legal vehicle and would need to be trailered to an event if it were life-sized, extremely modified for rock crawling off-road use only.

  • Electronics (motor, ESC, RX/TX): No exclusions.

  • Max length: 8” axle nut to axle nut

  • Frame Rails:

    • No exclusions. Vehicles should resemble something that could be driven if it were full-sized, e.g., opening for windows and/or windshield, a roof or cage, hood covering or cage.

  • Body:
    • Full bodied, cage frame, chassis bodies, half cabs, ATV.
  • Axles:
    • No exclusions.
  • Wheels: 1.0”-1.3”
  • Tires: 68mm Max diameter.
  • Battery: 2s or 3s.
  • Exclusions:
    • No four wheel steer (4WS)**

    • No unlockable rear transmission (DIG)**

    • No battery on axle (BOA).

    • No motor on axle (MOA).

** allowed on vehicles, but can not be used. If activated during a scored run an automatic DNF will be applied.

SIDEWINDER - D4 (Class 4):

Sidewinder vehicles are intended to resemble purpose-built rock crawlers with extreme modifications and designed for off-road use only if they were life-sized.

  • Electronics (motor, ESC, RX/TX): No exclusions

  • Max length: 8” axle nut to axle nut.

  • Frame Rails:

    • Any chassis, which should resemble something that could be driven if the vehicle were full sized, e.g., opening for windows and or windshield, a roof or cage, hood covering or cage.

  • Body: No exclusions.

  • Axles: No exclusions.

  • Wheels: 1.0”-1.8”

  • Tires: No exclusions.

  • Battery: 2s or 3s.

  • 4WS: Allowed.

  • DIG: Allowed.

  • BOA: Allowed.

  • MOA: Allowed

! THESE ARE THE OLD RULES FOR REFERENCE !

Still using it for Youth Comps (class 1 & 2)

All classes are 1:18 or 1:24. No UTB18s

Class 1 – Stock-ish Vehicle

TL;DR: Keep mostly to stock no big upgrades

  • The goal is to allow stock trucks to participate without imposing modifications, while still leaving room for those who wish to make minimal changes to compete in the Modified category. The final determination between stock and modified will be based on intent, with judges having the ultimate decision.
  • Can remove accessories on Bronco and Gladiator Chassis
  • Must keep plastic stock links
  • Stock axles. No overdrive or CVDs.
  • Can change wheels and tires.
  • Rims/Wheels can be aluminum.
  • No brass parts or added weight.
  • Preferably equipped with a stock servo; however, if it malfunctioned and is replaced with a moderate upgrade, that is acceptable. High-speed servos are not permitted.
  • Preferably equipped with a stock motor; however, if it malfunctioned and is replaced with a moderate upgrade, that is acceptable. Brushless is not permitted.
  • Shocks must be in standard location
